WELCOME LETTER

The School of Environmental and Waste Management established by Universidad Central de Nicaragua International Programs is committed to dissemination of knowledge and skills through long-distance and blended higher and practical education in the study areas of environmental auditing and management and waste management to promote the preservation of nature and the protection of the environment.

The UCN PI School of Environmental and Waste Management is a truly global campus offering enrollment opportunities worldwide, nevertheless, the major objective in regional distribution of skills-based education programmes is meeting national or regional qualifications profiles and demands. Therefore, the School of Enrivonmental and Waste Management will pursue and close educational services agreements with regional and national providers and waste-management branch federations, like the Fachverband der Abfall- und Abwasserwirtschaft der Wirtschaftskammer Osterreichs, the official sector representation in the Federal Economic Chamber, or with FEAD, the European Federation of Waste Management Associations, as well as with particular corporations in the area. We will be taking a sector-specific approach when offering certain qualifications, and we will take a country-specific approach, when checking for certain authorised qualifications. That includes collaboration with providers in the various countries, as well as expanding the educational offer into various study-languages covered by such educational collaboration agreements with a variety of recognised post-secondary education providers, professional or academic.

We will pursue double degree programmes with other tertiary education providers globally and are committed to becoming THE Waste Management University in the world. In order to achieve that goal we will foster collaborations with corporations directly in order to develop and conduct company specific training programmes and degree programmes for their employees.

We are planning the following degree programmes (acc. to ECTS system):

Bachelor of Science in Environmental/Waste Management

Bachelor of Business Administration in Environmental/Waste Management

Master of Science in Environmental/Waste Management

Master of Business Administration in Environmental/Waste Management

As part of the professional doctoral research programme available at UNC PI, the third cycle studies at the DBA level are accessible for alumni of the professional master degree programmes.

These programmes may be genuine UCN PI School of Environmental and Waste Management programmes in either of our study languages, or joint-programmes, delivered by national or regional partners in education, whereby UCN PI conducts examinations and awards the degree, or double-degree programmes with other accredited higher-education providers worldwide; e.g. like with WWEDU in Austria for a MSc by UCN and a MBA by WWEDU.

It requires multi- and interdisciplinary and cross-cultural integrated approaches, holistic and systemic thinking and decision-making to solve the problems of the world in the 21st century. This belief is the core element of all our UCN PI School of Environmental and Waste Management degree programmes and courses.

I am confident that the new

School of Environmental and Waste Management

will become operational soon with a variety of highly specific and professional educational offers meeting the requirements of employers, students, and society.
